2oo8 McDonald’s All American, 2oo8 Caribbean Basketball Networks Caribbean Player of the Year, Pro Prospect Samardo Samuels

The last hoopster from the Caribbean to be this highly touted was a bouncy seven footer from “Yard” (Editor’s Note: Caribbean term for “Jamaica”). By way of Massachusetts’ Rindge and Latin Hs, his name was Patrick Ewing. Is Samardo Samuels the second coming? With a surprising amount of athleticism given his heft, a strong frame built for low block contact, even stronger hands, a soft touch and he just might be. However, before we begin to heap on Samuels the accolades of one of the NBA’s top 75 players, before he even gets a chance to step on the floor for the Louisville Cardinals, We caught up with Samuels at this years installment of the McDonalds All American Game.

Caribbean Basketball Networks Players Edge ©  Former Milwaukee Bucks Trainer Mike Jelich

Professional Trainer and Coach Mke Jelich , owner and founder of NUbody, Inc., said he was doing some jogging one day and he had a visualization as he was about to start runnin up a steep hill. Jelich says “The crazy idea popped into his head, that maybe professional teams and athletes would improve their performance if they had a personal trainer on staff.” Mr. Jelich, a workout fiend himself, was so blown and inspired by this idea that he stopped, ran home and started right away at weaving together his ideas into a presentation and a business plan. After a meeting with some of the executives of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, the next day they returned his call, snapped some pictures and it was official, Mike Jelich was the first personal strength and conditioning coach for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks franchise. As they say, the rest is history.
