Caribbean Basketball Networks Old School Gold - MyChal Thompson

mychal-thompson.jpgThe leader of the new school. The first in the pool. With the first pick in the first round of the 1978 NBA Draft one Portland General manager chose…. Ahead of West Texas’ finest (Maurice Cheeks), ahead of the Wildman from Wyoming (Michael Ray Richardson), ahead of Arkansas’ head hog (Ron Brewer), ahead of UNLV All American (Reggie Theus), ahead of the epitome (UNC’s Phil Ford) and ahead of the Hick from French Lick (Larry Bird);…One GM chose to start the international invasion. Not the Beatles, not the Stones, it was for him whom the “sweet bell” tolled. From Nassau, Bahamas, by way of Miami Jackson Hs and the University of Minnesota, Mychal Thompson’s selection symbolized a movement some 30 years before its time. Fittingly enough was the fact that he was selected by the aptly entitled franchise, The Portland Trailblazers.

Mychal “Sweet Bells” Thompson is one of the elite of amongst one of the elitist fraternities ever. NBA number one pick. Ever!! Caribbean Basketball Networks got a hold of the former NBA player and Current Lakers Radio Color Commentator, Why? So you could bear witness to Genius. Ladies and Gentlemen, experience the birth of cool, Speak…

Caribbean Basketball Networks Senior Sendoff Series - Rashad Moss

Caribbean Basketball Networks Senior Sendoff Series
Rashad Moss

Caribbean Basketball Networks’ Consensus Number one player in the class of 2oo4. One of the twin towers which ruled the paint for the last Charlie “Softly” Rubins led bunch. For the last seven years, (three high school and four rashadmossjuco.jpgcollegiate), Rashad Moss did his thing.

Hey, but don’t take our word for it….Check the records books at Catholic Hs, North Oklahoma-Enid and the University of Arkansas Little Rock. The all time leading scorer and rebounder in North Oklahoma-Enid history and probably the best player to wear Catholic Hs gold in the last four years, Rashad Moss usually don’t got to say much. However, we did get a hold of the former North Oklahoma-Enid Jet to (from his perspective) put a cap on his collegiate career.

Caribbean Basketball Networks Alert - The Frenzy

Caribbean Basketball Networks
The Frenzy

grandbahamabasketballcourt.jpg

Recently, the basketball Mecca of the universe, has turned its attention to the Caribbean, among other countries to get talented young prospects into the american system in hopes of grooming them for future success. It’s much like the elapsing of markets syndrome experienced by bigger wider known brands I.e. The Coke and Pepsi, Nike and Adidas lines and their market share stake in America. So in the sense of good business all entities must look outside of it borders to continue to feed the machine which exist. So with the attention being turned elsewhere and little or no structure being set up to receive such attention where the attention is being given; frenzy ensues and questions of credibility arise and linger greatly. This is for external representatives and individuals looking at the Caribbean for talented young prospects, events and/or coaches; here is how you wade through “The Extras” and get to the heart of the matter.

Caribbean Basketball Networks
Senior Sendoff - Boman Mullings

bomanmullings-1.jpg

Boman Mullings, was the 2oo3 Hugh Campbell Most Valuable Player and he didn’t step foot inside of the free throw line for the entire tournament; with that said… no other introduction is really necessary. Mullings, the 6′4 wiry shooting guard who competed for Grand Bahama Catholic Hs in his high school days, is now putting the finishing touches on a Collegiate basketball career that has seen the peaks and the valleys. Luckily for Boman his career ends on a personal high note. We sat down with the Hugh Campbell Mvp turned HAAC all Conference player to get some reflections.

Caribbean Basketball Networks Senior Sendoff Series

Jeffrey Henfield

For Henfield there wasn’t really too much doubt as far as to if basketball would pay somejeffreyhenfield.jpg bills for him one day. When you’re coming in the door as a sophomore and immediately a starter on an undefeated National Championship team, its obvious your inline for some future success. Caribbean Basketball Networks (Class of 2003) Consensus Number One player and Gsssa League MVP; The 2oo3 Sterling Quant Award winner and the only invitee from New Providence to play in the GBSSSA All Star Basketball Game.
With a stint at Division One University of New Mexico and a stellar all conference year at Tarleton State University; now that its all done, Henfield stops by to put things in perspective. Come give a listen….
