Week 4 : January 28th -February 3rd.

1. Jack Hayward High School Wildcats: Ivan Butler’s Wildcats have Three Tournament wins on the year already, and its not regular season games that matter most its tournament time that does. A tough loss this week does nothing but show the Wildcats as mortal. In our minds, the loss wasn’t enough to cause the Wildcats to be dropped from the rankings’ number one spot. Consistently, solid play has been this teams’ trademark since the beginning of the season; we view the loss as more of a hiccup rather than a roadblock to the Wildcats.
2. Grand Bahama Catholic Hs Crusaders: In the background, speaking “Softly” but making noise none the less is Catholic High. Catholic Hs won the championship of the VitaMalt Invitational and has took that momentum right into the Gbssa Regular season. Wave after wave of talent have the Crusaders “Standing pat” at Number two (2) in the nation. “Jumpman”, “Moonman” and The (Oral) Jones Gang has to be looking forward to The Hugh Campbell National Tournament. Name of Note: Kalim Mullings.
3. Prince William Hs Falcons: As first released in our preseason projections, the Prince William High School Falcons won the Baiss regular season Championship, and in convincing undefeated fashion. It has been a long and winding road (the Beatles) but it has also been a display in execution thus far for the Falcons (11-o on the Baiss regular season). As the Baiss playoffs are set to begin, there is only one motto for this group; “For Coach” (This slogan is being used by the team in reference to now deceased Coaching Legend Godfrey McQuay.) Name of Note: Godfrey McQuay. (Rest In Peace)
4. Church of God Flames: Coach Curry has a sound group of players this season and they have done nothing but shake up the greater Bahamian High School basketball community with their arrival near the top of the rankings. A big backline, skilled experienced guards and depth galore keep the fire burning for the Flames. Currently in first place in the BSA standings.
5. C.r. Walker Knights: This year’s rendition of the Knights are looking impressive in doing what Trevor Grant team’s do; which is defend, play an up tempo style and basically harass anybody on the floor against them. The best record in the Gsssa regular season thus far has the Knights primed to claim another Gsssa Pennant. Will they be able to complete?
6.Westminster College Diplomats: The Diplomats, Led by Caribbean Basketball Networks Baiss Regular Season Co-coach of the year Eugeno Bullard, have done a marvelous job of coming up and out of “nowhere”. With the Baiss playoffs soon upon us and “The Dip’Set” a virtual lock into the second seed, many are still wondering if this will be the year that they will break through the Baiss’ “Glass ceiling”.
6. C.I. Gibson Hs Rattlers: Coach Kevin Johnson has steadily pushed this year’s edition of the Rattlers, one which appeared to be lacking by all implications at the beginning of the preseason, into an almost consistently flowing wave of improvements and victories through out the course of the season. With virtually all of the Gsssa teams faltering almost weekly (sans C.r. Walker), The Rattlers seem to be faltering the least of the other contending teams. C.I.Gibson Hs is always a tough out come playoff time. Name of note: Milano “Fridge” Hinds
8.Tabernacle Baptist Falcons: Some key recent defections steal some of the momentum away from an otherwise solid bunch. Whilst some glimmer is lost off of the team, they should still contend right up until the closing of the Gbssa playoffs and throughout The Hugh Campbell National Tournament. Traditionally, (Norris) Bain’s boys battle until the buzzer.
9. R.m. Bailey Senior Hs Pacers: Strachan’s bunch have been reeling since starting off really hot in Gsssa regular season play. However, with almost every other team besides C.r. Walker Hs going in the wrong direction, there aren’t many options elsewise. The Pacers are hanging onto a spot in the polls, however just barely.
1o. Eight Mile Rock Bluejays: This week’s biggest drop goes to the team that dropped the most games this week in competition. Whilst former Blue Jay Marco Cooper is currently playing for an undefeated in conference Delaware Blue Hens squad, He isn’t for the Eight Mile Rock Blue jays. They probably wish they still had the low block banger manning the post. Hopefully, Coach Hall will right the ship before it sinks too low and right out of our polls. Eight Mile Rock rounds out our poll for this week.
