Junior College All conference, one of the leaders of one of the best junior College teams in the nation back in 2oo6 (Northeastern Wyoming Cc) and this year, The Only Bahamian in the 2oo8 NCAA tournament. Many within the Caribbean don’t even know where Brigham Young University is. It’s in Utah and we got in touch with the next in line bloodline in the Rose Basketball family basketball. Caribbean Basketball Networks caught up with BYU Cougar Archie Rose….

Caribbean Basketball Networks Correspondent: What’s gurn on dawg…Welcome to Caribbean Basketball Networks.
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: (laughs)…Yeah mang…Thanks for having me on still.
Caribasket.net: First of all, Mountain West Conference Regular Season Champions and another Rose representing the Bahamas in the NCAA Basketball Tournament…Tell us a bit about that?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Man, its good. We as a team and individually work hard and it feels good to have gotten something out of it.
Caribasket.net: What kind of work, What’s a typical day like?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Man…A BYU Cougar day is…Up at seven, eat breakfast, work out, go to classes till about 2-3, somewhere in there get a second bite on something to eat, lifting as a team after classes is over in the afternoon, then you got that practice…the actual practice. (laughs). Then after that you got your tutoring and things like that. Your usually done by around 7 ‘o’ clock.
Caribasket.net: That’s a 12 hour shift almost, is you serious?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Nah, We love it. And all the hard work is paying off… so It’s not even like that. C’mon think about it…We ended up in the NCAA tournament playing against North Carolina…Trust me, It’s worth it.
Caribasket.net: Tell us about that experience?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Well, got to see the Tyler Hansborough, Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson and them. they get it and go!!
Caribasket.net: You know this is the second straight year that the only Bahamian in the NCAA tournament has bumped into North Carolina?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Really.. (laughs)…Lite wibe! Was the result with us the same as whoever it was with last year?
Caribasket.net: It was (Editor’s Note: Bahamian Eastern Kentucky Post) Jamaal Douglas and it was relatively the same as you guys.
Coming Attractions -Archie Rose: Hmmm…true. I had the chance to ball against some other cats that could really ball this year though.
Caribasket.net: Really, Players like who?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Michigan State’s Drew Nietzel, The whole Louisville crew, Earl Clark, Terrance Williams and those, Them boys did they thing when we played against them.
Caribasket.net: Oh..ok…Who would you say was the most ballingest?
Coming Attractions -Archie Rose: Not none of those guys, It was this cat from Wake Forest…Oh My goodness this dude put in work. (Editor’s Note: Wake Forest guard Jeff Teague is the player that he was referring to). It was a lot of cats that did their thing…but he just showed off the night when we played them (laughs).
Caribasket.net: Any big time talent that you saw whilst you was playing juco?
Coming Attractions - Archie Rose: Man…Where I was playing…It was basically already Division one…It was just Division one cats with problems. A lot of those guys we were playing out there in Wyoming were good players already but a lot of them just had situations that stopped them from going directly to NCAA Division One.
Caribasket.net: Finally, you guys won the Mountain West Conference…Where’s the bling?
Coming Attractions -Archie Rose: (Laughs) Were supposed to be getting them at the beginning of this coming season so a lot of guys are looking forward to that, including me. That’s not the main thing though, we as a team are just focusing on getting one more this coming year!
Caribbean Basketball Networks would like to thank The only Bahamian on a roster for a team in the 2oo8 NCAA National Championship Tournament Brigham Young University Cougar Archie Rose. We wish him all the best of success in the future and Until next Time, Blessings and Peace Eternal©
