Caribbean Basketball Networks: Thanks for coming on?
Senior Sendoff Series - Jamaal Douglas:
Yeah man, een no ting. I had to do it for my peeps in the Deuce- Quad-Duece and all that.

Caribasket.net: When did you first play basketball in the states?
Jamaal Douglas:
Well, I left St. Augustine’s College Hs. back in the summer of 1999. Went to Palmer Trinity Hs.(Located in Florida) and started working my hardest to try to get to the next level. (Editor’s Note: Douglas made honorable mention All State as a junior and All State Second Team as a senior). I knew I wanted to be a college player or higher so that was my goal all along.
Caribasket.net: During your collegiate career you got to play in some big games against some big names, tell us some of them?
Jamaal Douglas:
I played against (current Milwaukee Buck) Charlie Villanueva and (Chicago Bull) Luol Deng, (San Antonio Spur) Darius Washington Jr. back when we was in high school. I caught up them cats on the High school and AAU circuit. I got in with that whole Georgia Tech crew, (Chicago Bulls Draft pick) Luke Schenscher, (NBDL Austin Toro) B.J. Elder, (NBDL Alberqueque Thunderbird) Ismail Muhammad and them when they was hot. Yeah, we played them that year when they made the NCAA title game. (Potential pros like) Louisville’s Terrance Williams and Jaun Diego Palacious, Arizona Transfer (now at University of South Florida) Jesus Verdejao. Played against Chris Paul on this past summer and we played against the whole Duke University Crew on this season past.

Caribasket.net: Really, how was that?
Jamaal Douglas:
Aw man, Cameron Indoor Stadium is like no other basketball place in the world. I couldn’t hear my teammates, I couldn’t hear my coach, the ground was shaking, Man! It was like a sign language game for us (laughs); Television doesn’t do it justice, it’s crazy!

Caribasket.net: You also got to play in the NCAA tournament last year, you was the Only Bahamian there last season, tell us about that?
Jamaal Douglas:
(Tyler) Hansborough, (Ty) Lawson; yeah the whole continuous fast break thing was a trip. Unluckily for us we had to play them in Raleigh, so yeah (frowns).

Caribasket.net: Summarize your collegiate career?
Jamaal Douglas:
Man, I loved it. I gave it my all and worked hard. Aint too many from where we come from get this opportunity so you owe it to yourself just to make the most (of it). That’s all you really can do. For the most part, I think I did what I had to do. Now that’s its all said and done, I don’t have any regrets because I left it all on the floor (smiles).

Caribasket.net: What you got planned for the near future as far as basketball? How are you about to get this Dollar, or this Yen or this Euro?
Jamaal Douglas:
Well I got a couple of camps lined up in Las Vegas in a few weeks. These are basically exposure events; the type of camps where everybody is a household name and the main reason the players are there is to basically to see where everybody present is going to end up really. I got a trainer she works out a few players from the Miami Heat Organization, she has worked with Dwayne Wade and Shaquille (O’Neal) and them so yeah she knows her stuff. Yeah, I’m just trying to continue working hard and hoping to put myself in a solid situation.

Caribasket.net: Finally, what advice can you offer to the next one coming up?
Senior Sendoff© - Jamaal Douglas:
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR SUMMERS! Most people take that time for granted, many of them feel it’s a time for going to the beach and having fun and all that but that’s the main time when you should be working to improve as much as you can. When you got time to work on things. So put in your hours and who knows from there.

Caribbean Basketball Networks would like to thank Former University of Eastern Kentucky Player Jamaal Douglas for leaving us with some knowledge. Until Next time Blessings and Peace Eternal©
