Day One: The McDonalds All American Game Festivities
Ronald McDonald’s House Visit/ Practice
Homestead High School,
Mequon, Wisconsin.

Sunday, March 23, 2oo8.

The McDonalds all American Game is not simply just your run of the mill gathering of talent from across the country coming together to sell tickets to an eager market, it is more, it is a charity event and all the proceeds are aimed at helping the less fortunate in America, namely those that are benefactors of the Ronald McDonalds House of Families.
With that said, Wisconsin, brought together forty-Eight (48) of the finest High School hoopsters (boys and girls) from around the Country. The players came together for what is widely considered the grand daddy of all of the American high school all star games.

For those in the Caribbean that aren’t familiar with this storied and prestigious event, the McDonalds All American game is arguably the most talent drawing event of all of the events that exist on the High school basketball circuit. Picture your state or National Championship tournament with 48 of the best all time players from your Caribbean country or region, then multiply their talents and exposure by ten.
Today, the players, many of whom who were fresh off of putting the finishing touches on their high school careers by competing in their state tournaments, before they even touched a basketball went out and interacted with the individuals at the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s class.
Next stop was Homestead High School Gymnasium in Mequon, Wisconsin where the players familiarized themselves with the coaches and other players participating in the event.
The players were organized into their specific teams; every player representing a high school west of the Mississippi was placed on the West squad and obviously it was vice versa for the rest of the players representing the East Squad. The head coaches for the event, a collection of some of the most reputable in their native states (Pennsylvania, Alabama and Wisconsin) took the players through some drills, put in a few set plays and got in a short scrimmage.
All of household names were present, DelleDonne, Munroe, Samuels, Jennings, Larry Drew jr., the list goes on and on. So needless to say all of the major institutions synonymous with basketball; North Carolina, UCLA, Duke, Georgetown, Tennessee, etc. were also all respresented.

Player interviews are forthcoming so stay tuned for our daily updates of the week long festivities….
